Justine Bowker
From the age of eleven I have performed with several local Amateur Dramatic Societies such as The Little Theatre and the Barnby Dun Players in pantomimes, murder mysteries and farces, including: ‘Snow White’ (Dopey), ‘Aladdin’ (Wishey Washey) and ‘Sleeping Beauty’ (Carrabosse). I have also directed and performed in ‘A Night at the West End’ with the Players and performed in ‘A Night at the Silver Screen’.
As well as singing, I have a great love for acting and have been a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain since 2005. During my time as a student at Stagecoach School of Theatre Arts I have performed in many productions including a solo performance in ‘Beyond Broadway’ with a West End cast. Following my time as a student there I worked for Stagecoach as a Teaching Assistant.
I was delighted to pass my Grade 8 LAMDA exam (verse and prose) with Merit and my Music Theatre exam (Grades 6 and 8) with Distinction. I also achieved a Grade A at GCSE in Drama and at ‘A’ level in Performing Arts. During my time of study I was involved in various productions, including ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ (Hermia) and ‘ The Jungle Book’ (Balou). I also provided the voice over for an educational DVD concerning post 16 opportunities to be provided to all schools in Doncaster.
I studied Psychology at the University of Sussex and graduated in July 2009 with a 2:1. Whilst at University I performed in various shows such as: ‘The Vagina Monologues’, ‘The Birthday Party’ (Meg), ‘The Tempest’ (Gonzalo) and ‘I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!’ I have also written and directed a murder mystery to raise money for Sussex University Drama Society. I was a first soprano in the Brighton Festival Chorus and have performed with them at the Dome Theatre in Brighton, the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Academy of Music.
